With the onset of the holy month of Ramadan, Assistance Coordination Unit (ACU) and the Syrian interim government will begin the distribution of 50,000 food parcels in four provinces in northern Syria, starting from the first week of July. Each food parcel contains nine basic materials and weighs 40 kg, which is expected to suffice the average family in the month of Ramadan. The food aid will be distributed in 52 points in each of Aleppo, Idlib, Hama and Latakia, on the basis of a prior study on the needs of the residents. The food aid was provided by the U.S. donor USAID, while the distribution will be according to memoranda of understanding with the partners in the four provinces mentioned above. (Source: ACU)
