Assistance Coordination Unit (ACU) said that it carried out three agricultural projects worth of $142,000 USD in northern rural Homs as parts of its efforts to promote self-sufficiency in the besieged areas. The projects were financed by Qatar, and are expected to provide food security and create employment opportunities through growing vegetables over an area of 8.5 hectares. The project also included the purchase and fattening of sheep and calves to offer meat to the besieged areas at affordable prices. The third project provides support for the livestock by providing medicines, vaccines free of charge and fodder for stock raisers at subsidized prices in an effort to preserve livestock and to encourage production to meets the needs of civilians in the besieged areas.
