New demonstrations took place in the towns and villages of Deir Ezzor condemning the violations of the PYD militia against people of the region as well as the rampant corruption and the mismanagement of the affairs of the region.
Demonstrators held sings condemning the PYD militia and chanted slogans calling for them to leave the region. Local news networks reported the demonstrations have been ongoing for the third day, adding that demonstrators had cut off roads while shop owners closed their shops in protest.
According to the Furat Post news network, the PYD militants dispersed a demonstration in the town of Ozbah by the use of force after protestors lashed out against the PYD repressive practices as well as the rampant security and economic corruption in the region.
Local activists said that the demonstrations would continue until the PYD militia withdraws from the region and the local population are allowed to set up real local administrations.
The activists added that there has been a recent increase in war crimes against civilians at the hands of the PYD militia in the region.
The Syrian Coalition said that the PYD actions in the region amount to “war crimes” as it demanded that those responsible be held to account.
The Coalition discussed the situation in the east of the Euphrates area in several meetings with Western officials and diplomats. It stressed the importance of stabilization of the region and the elimination of terrorist organizations in all their forms. It also stressed the need to fill the vacuum in the region and prevent the PYD militia from carrying on with their terrorist activities against civilians in the region.
