Activists in the Damascus suburb of Alhama said that regime forces pounded the suburb with barrel bombs and heavy artillery on Wednesday. The bombardment targeted the Alsalam Hospital, killing two members of the medical staff and putting the hospital out of action. The bombings also targeted a civil defense center, killing a civilian and destroying a vehicle belonging to the center.
Meanwhile, violent clashes broke out between rebel fighters and regime forces on the outskirts of Alhama. Rebel fighters destroyed a Shilka armored vehicle and killed a number of Assad’s militants.
Residents of Alhama gathered in front of a major regime checkpoint on Thursday to protest against the regime’s indiscriminate bombardment on the suburb.
In southeastern rural Damascus, the Assad regime air force hit the town of Khan Alsheeh on Wednesday. An airstrike targeted a hospital in the town, putting it of service and killing two civilians. Regime forces also pounded the towns of Deir khabiya, Muqeilbiya and Zabadani with heavy artillery.
Regime forces also bombed Shaam Alamal Hospital in the Damascus suburb of Qudsayya with heavy artillery, causing material damage to the hospital building and injuring a number of the patients in the hospital. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
