The Assad regime and Russian forces are further escalating bombardment against rural Idlib and Hama despite international efforts to stop the targeting of civilians and ensure recommitment to the Idlib cease-fire agreement.
Local activists said that aerial bombardment by the Assad regime killed two children and wounded others in the town of Haas in southern rural Idlib on Thursday.
The Assad regime air force also targeted several locations in rural Idlib, including Ma’aret al-Nu’man, Kifranbel and Ma’ret Horma, targeting mainly residential areas and public markets.
Seven people were killed and 10 others were wounded in regime airstrikes that hit the town of Jisr al-Shughour on Wednesday. The civil defense teams rushed five people in critical condition to the city of Idlib.
The air forces of the Assad regime and Russia continue to raid many towns and villages in the liberated areas in northwestern Syria. Meanwhile, Belgium, Germany, and Kuwait called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to discuss the situation in Syria this week.
Idlib province and northern rural Hama have been subjected to ruthless aerial as well as rocket and artillery shelling by the Assad regime and Russian forces. The bombings are causing mounting civilian casualties and have forced tens of thousands of people out of their homes although the region is covered by the Idlib agreement calling for a halt to bombardment.
