The Assad regime and Russian forces carried out dozens of airstrikes in various areas in the ‘de-escalation zone’ in northwestern Syria on Tuesday, mainly targeting civilian homes and vital civilian facilities.
The Syrian civil defense said that the Assad regime and Russian forces resumed the bombardment and shelling on Tuesday. “The Assad regime and Russian jets resumed the raining of bombs on southern rural Idlib on Tuesday.”
The rescue group pointed out that bombings and shelling were concentrated on the town of Khan Sheikhoun which was hit with more than 44 airstrikes, 12 barrel bombs, and 33 artillery shells.
The civil defense pointed out that violent airstrikes targeted residential neighborhoods and the Damascus-Aleppo highway. It noted that these attacks were part of the regime and Russia’s efforts to “kill and maim the ciivlians returning to their homes.”
According to the civil defense, civilian homes in the town of Al-Mozara in Jabal Al-Zawiya region were hit with 20 artillery shells, without reports of casualties.
Russian jets also pounded the towns of Kafar Zeita, Lataminah, al-Zakat, Latminm and al-Arbaeen in northern rural Hama. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
