Assad regime forces have launched a ground attack on FSA-held areas in eastern rural Suweida, taking advantage of the FSA’s commitment to drive militants of the ISIS extremist group from the area.
Local activist said that regime forces tried to advance on the areas controlled by the Ossoud Alsharqiya FSA group in eastern rural Swaida as fighters of the group are currently engaged in fierce battles with ISIS in Abu Shamat.
Activists pointed out that the FSA fighters are now fighting two battles on two different fronts against the Assad regime forces and ISIS.
An FSA commander said that the regime’s attacks violate the cease-fire agreement and serve the interests of the ISIS extremist group.
The Assad regime’s air force earlier attacked the FSA positions after the latter drove ISIS militants out of the area, causing a number of casualties. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
