A local relief group said that it registered the names of more than 150 people who were killed as a result of the ongoing military escalation by the Assad regime in the provinces of Aleppo, Idlib and Hama. The Syrian Coalition said that the Assad regime commits such violations ahead of every international conference or event on Syria with the aim of undermining international efforts that could help alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people.
In a statement on Saturday, the Emergency Response Coordinators Team said that the Assad regime forces targeted at least 89 locations across northwestern Syria. It noted the intensified shelling killed more than 150 people, including 53 children.
The Team pointed out that the Assad regime forces targeted 39 locations in the province of Idlib, 34 in the province of Hama, and 16 others in the province of Aleppo in the period from 8 to 15 March.
The statement indicated that Russian and Assad regime’s air forces bombed no fewer than 14 locations, including six that were directly targeted by the Russian jets.
President of the Syrian Coalition Abdurrahman Mustafa said that the Russian bombings in Idlib clearly constituted war crimes and crimes against humanity.
President Mustafa denied the claims that the airstrikes had been carried out in coordination with Turkey. He explained that he communicated with the Turkish side with regards to the Russian allegations about coordination between them in this bombings, adding that Ankara denied the allegations. He described these allegations as “pure Russian propaganda.”
The shelling has also forced thousands of civilians to flee their homes and prompted education officials to suspend schools. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
