Residents of As-Suwayda province on Friday took to the streets to mark the thirty-ninth anniversary of the departure of the Leader of the Great Syrian Revolution, Sultan Pasha Al-Atrash; express rejection of attempts to rehabilitate the Assad regime; and demand the release of detainees.
Protestors in the town of Qaryya south of al-Suwayda held signs that read ‘Syria is free,’ ‘injustice will not last forever,’ ‘we demand the release of detainees,’ and’ ‘we won’t accept rehabilitation of the corrupt regime.’
Demonstrators also demanded the withdrawal of foreign forces from all Syrian territory as they called for following in the footsteps of Sultan Pasha Al-Atrash. They also chanted slogans reaffirming commitment to the unity of the Syrian people.
