Dozens of people on Tuesday gathered in the town of Ma’arashurin in southern rural Idlib to demand the overthrow of the Assad regime and the release of detainees in its prisons.
Demonstrators denounced the amnesty the Assad regime announced earlier this week, reiterating calls to hold Bashar al-Assad and his inner circle accountable for the war crimes they have been committing against Syrian civilians since 2011.
Participants in the demonstrations raised the flag of the Syrian revolution and chanted slogans reaffirming their commitment to the goals of the revolution, especially the overthrow of the regime.
Organizers of the demonstration pointed out that the renewal of the popular peaceful movement reflected an insistence on the continuation of the revolution. They said that they would not give up their demands to overthrow the regime and release the detainees.
