The Syrian Journalists Association documented four journalists and media activists killed by regime forces in Syria during April, bringing to total number to 240 since March, 2011. The Association also documented other violations, including physical assault, kidnapping, banishing and sabotage of media centers. The same period witnessed several violations against journalists in opposition-held and contested areas. The Association calls on battalions and armed groups which extended their control over those areas to respect the freedom of the media work and work, to ensure the safety of media workers, and to hold to account all those involved in these violations.” (Source: Syrian Journalists Association)
