The Free Bar Association convened in the cultural center in the town of Azaz in rural Aleppo to elect the central syndicate in the presence of the Minister of Justice in the Syrian Provisional Government, Abdullah Abdul Salam.
The Association said that the aim of the conference is to unify the revolutionary, professional, and union efforts of the free Syrian lawyers. The conference brought together the branches of the Bar Association in Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Damascus, Dara’a, Lattakia, Raqqa, Hasaka.
Yassin Al-Hilal was elected as President of the Free Bar Association, while Jassem Al-Ali as Vice-president, Fahd Al-Musa as Secretary, Hussain Buz as Head of the Treasury, and Ahmad Khazna, Muhammad Tamu, Khaldoun Shamiya, Farouk Abu Halawa, Ziyad Jamous, Saleh Abdullah, Saad Al-Shuweesh, and Youssef Hussein as members of the Association.
A Central Retirement Treasury Committee was also elected, with Wael Abdel-Razzaq Sheikho, Ahmed Izz Al-Din, and Khalil Al-Amer elected as members of the committee.
Members of the Association concluded the meeting by holding a sit-in protest in solidarity with Idlib province and to denounce the Assad regime and Russia’s war crimes and bloody attacks against civilians. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
