Activists in the western Aleppo district said that the Free Syrian Army and rebel fighters pounded with artillery shells the Assad regime positions inside the 3,000 Apartments Project area in the neighborhood of Hamdaniya as well as the Political Security building in the neighborhood of Sulaimaniya in central Aleppo.
The FSA and rebel fighters repelled a regime counteroffensive in the Minyan area on the fourth day of the FSA and rebel offensive in Aleppo, which was launched on Friday and called the “Great Epic Battle of Aleppo.” Activists said that pro-regime forces suffered heavy losses in personnel and materiel in the failed counterattack.
The Assad regime and Russian air forces, meanwhile, continue to relentlessly raid rural and western rural Aleppo. Several barrel bombs, some filled with chlorine gas, hit rebel-areas on Monday, causing suffocation cases among civilians.
A total of about 40 civilians, including 9 children and 3 women, were killed across Syria on Monday in aerial and ground bombardment by the Assad regime and Russian forces.
In rural Damascus, rebel fighters said they repelled attempts by regime forces to advance on the Reihan and Shifouniya fronts, the Women’s Prison near Adra, and the Damascus-Homs highway, with reports of regime losses. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
