Interim Government Calls for “Friends of Syria” Countries to Support the Education Sector

The Ministry of Education in the Syrian interim government calls for the “Friends of Syria” countries to support the education sector in Syria. During a meeting with representatives  of Turkey’s Ministry of Education, the interim Minister of Education raised the need for coordination between the two ministries to oversee the Syrian schools in Turkey. They also discussed amending certificates issued by the National Commission for Education for the academic year 2013, and they agreed that a permission has to be obtained from the Ministry of Education in the Syrian interim government before opening schools in Turkey. The meeting was attended by the interim Minister of Education Muhiaddin Binanah and coordinator of Turkish relations o Haji Dadam while on the Turkish side was represented by Youssef Buick, advisor of Syrian affairs, Faisal Beah, coordinator of the Syrians’ affairs, and Ibrahim Altan, representative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Turkey.
