The Syrian Interim Government held a press conference yesterday evening in the Turkish city of Gaziantep about the Assad regime’s chlorine gas attack on the town of Sarmin in rural Idlib.
The interim government calls upon the international community and the UN Security Council to take the necessary action against the Assad regime for the attack that claimed the lives of six civilians and left over 150 others injured according to documented reports of Idlib Health Directorate.
Interim Minister of Health Mohammed Juma’a presented a clinical description of the victims who arrived at a makeshift hospital in the town of Sarmin, bringing to mind the Sarin attack on Eastern Ghouta in Damascus suburbs in August 2013.
Jawad Abu Hatab, member of the Syrian Coalition, stresses the need for the enforcement of the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2209 related to the use of chemical weapons and chlorine gas, calling on the UN Security Council to take the necessary measures against the Assad regime under Chapter VII of the UN Charter for non-compliance with the above-mentioned resolution and the provisions contained in UN resolution 2118.
Interim Minister of Local Administration Hussein al-Bakri said that the chlorine attack on Sarmin is a war crime that adds up to the series of war crimes committed daily by the Assad regime against the Syrian people.
