The Syrian interim Ministry of Education said that the Turkish Siirt University announced it would begin receiving applications of Syrian students starting from the beginning of the week and until the end of September. The available courses for Syrian students include Education, Arts, Science Economics, Administrative Sciences, Agricultural Engineering, Architecture, Veterinary Medicine, in addition to a number of intermediate institutes, including the Institute of Medicine. The decision of Siirt University of followed talks between Farhad Sheikh Bakr, advisor to the interim Minister of Education and the head of Siirt University Murad Armand. Sheikh Bakr also met with Turkish education officials in Siirt and got the promise that a new school for Syrian students will be opened. Sheikh Bakr’s visit to the southeastern Turkish cities bordering Syria aims to follow up on the preparations for the start of the school year, and also to discuss developing relations with educational institutions of Turkey. Sheikh Bakr visited a number of Syrian schools in those cities and met with those in charge of the educational process in the city of Diyarbakir, where new school for Syrians is going to be opened.
