Ahmad Tomeh, Interim Prime Minister, said that “establishing a buffer zone in Syria is a strategic demand and could be the first step towards reaching a comprehensive political solution to the conflict,” during a meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmed Davutoglu in Ankara. Davutoglu said that the Turkish government is still making efforts to establish safe havens in Syria for civilians to resort to and for the interim government to move to Syria. Tomeh said that the international community is looking for partial solutions to the conflict, while Syrians are seeking a comprehensive solution in cooperation with Turkey. He calls for extending support for all rebel factions, including the Islamist factions that signed the Revolutionary Covenant about six months ago. Tomeh also said that “we hope to benefit from the experience of the Turkish government which achieved records of successes internally and externally. The Turkish prime minister reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting the Syrian people and the Syrian Coalition, stressing that Turkey will continue to help the Syrian Coalition and the Syrian interim provide relief aid to the Syrian people. With regard to the formation of the new interim government, Davutoglu expressed hopes that new interim government will be formed in the upcoming meeting of the Syrian Coalition as this will positively reflect on the services provided to the Syrian people the support provided to the FSA.
