Activists said that the town of Jisr al-Shughour in western rural Idlib has been devastated by the violent aerial bombardment by the Assad regime and Russian forces. The recent upsurge in airstrikes have caused massive destruction to public facilities and private property and the infostructure.
The Assad regime and Russian air forces have stepped up airstrikes on the town as well as on towns and villages in northern rural Hama and southern rural Idlib, especially on Latamina, Kafarzeita, Ariha, Khan Sheikhoun and Ma’ret al-Nu’man.
Violent aerial bombardment targeted the only operating hospital in the town, putting it out of service. The shelling also forced many of the town’s residents to flee to relatively safer areas.
The local population appealed to the international community and human rights organizations to stop the “killing machine” targeting civilians and the infrastructure in the town. They called on humanitarian organizations to assume their humanitarian responsibility and provide urgent assistance to the people of the town.
The intensifying bombardment killed at least 12 civilians and injured more than 20 others as well as destroyed service centers and health facilities in the past three days.
Local activists said that thermobaric bombs, the white phosphorous, and cluster bombs are being used in the attacks which caused widespread destruction in the town. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
