The Interim Government’s Ministry of Local Administration, Relief and Refugees and the German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation (GIZ) signed a memo of understanding to launch a performance evaluation program for the local councils in Syria. The move aims to establish a national participatory project for local councils and all bodies related to them.
As part of the cooperation between the interim ministry and GIZ, the projects aim to support local communities and establish a culture of dialogue among the components of these communities.
The memo was signed on the Syrian side by Hussein Bakri, interim Ministry of Local Administration, Relief and Refugees.
A series of workshops will be organized with sides concerned with the evaluation of the performance of local councils with the aim to study and adopt standards for the evaluation process. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
