The Measles Control Task Force announced that they bear full legal and moral responsibility for the loss of the children in Idlib province and its consequences, expressing great anguish and grief upon receiving the news of the death of some children during the vaccination campaign. The Syrian interim government said in a statement that “the Measles Control Task Force was formed to respond to the outbreak of epidemics in the liberated areas which have been denied vaccines for more than three years. According to a report released by the ACU-run E-WARN, more than 9,000 suspected cases of the measles have been recorded in northern Syria since early July 2013, while many cases were confirmed. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs declared the outbreak of the measles epidemic in northern Syria.
