The Emergency Response Coordinators Team in Syria said that attacks by the Assad regime and Russian forces have killed dozens of civilians in Idlib province since a ceasefire agreement was concluded by Turkey and Russia in March 5th.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Team said that the attacks killed at least 33 civilians, adding that it has recorded no fewer than 3,174 violations of the ceasefire agreement by the Assad regime and Russian forces. It pointed out that Russian jets and UAVs targeted more than 17 vital installations in the region which has also been subjected to ground shelling by regime forces.
The Team condemned the continuing violations of the ceasefire in northwestern Syria, noting that the Assad regime forces have been deliberately targeting residential areas to prevent the return of civilians to their homes.
Moreover, the team demanded the preservation of the ceasefire agreement to allow the safe return of the IDP to their homes, calling for exerting pressure on the Assad regime to stop violations of the ceasefire.
It warned that further military escalation in the region will cause greater waves of displacement of civilians. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
