The Assad regime and Russian forces continued to violate the ceasefire agreement in the ‘de-escalation zone’ in northwestern Syria, triggering a new wave of mass internal displacement from the region, a monitoring group said.
The Emergency Response Coordinators Team on Wednesday said that the Assad regime and Russian forces violated the ceasefire agreement in Idlib province 71 times over the past week alone.
The Team indicated that the Assad regime forces carried out 44 attacks in Idlib province, seven in Hama province, four in Aleppo province, and eight in Latakia province between 10-17 June.
The Team indicated that aerial bombardment by the Assad regime and Russian forces forced 4,300 people out of their homes in Idlib province in the past week.
The Team condemned the regime’s continued violations of the ceasefire and the international inaction towards the regime’s actions. It added that this international silence is encouraging the regime to carry on with its systematic policy of terrorism against the civilian population in the region. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
