Medical workers in Hama and Idlib provinces said that they had recorded dozens of cases of severe burns while treating the people who are arriving in the two provinces after they were displaced from eastern Ghouta. They pointed out that these burns resulted from exposure to inflammable napalm which the Assad regime and Russian forces are using in the bombardment of eastern Ghouta.
Activists said that hundreds of people with severe burns were transferred to medical centers in the towns of Qalqat al-Madiq in rural Hama. Officials of the emergency services in the area explained that the numbers exceeded 400 and that the majority of the injuries were caused by exposure to napalm.
The Syrian Coalition said that Assad regime and Russian forces were employing scorched earth and siege tactics to force residents of eastern Ghouta to surrender with the aim of displacing them and changing the demographic landscape in the Damascus suburb.
The Coalition said that that Assad regime and Russian forces were committing war crimes to achieve their goals and using internationally banned weapons against civilians, including chemical weapons, white phosphorus, and napalm.
The Coalition underscored that “full-fledged” war crimes are taking place in eastern Ghouta as it condemned Russia’s major role “at all stages of the crime.” (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
