The Ministry of National Education in Turkey has issued a circular regulating the education services provided for foreign students at the request of the interim Ministry of Education in order to stem the chaos plaguing the Syrian schools in Turkey. The Ministry said it has been receiving increasing complaints from teachers and students concerning the administrative procedures in Syrian schools. The new regulations aim to coordinate educational events for foreign students in Turkey, especially for children at the age of compulsory education. An educational committee is going to be formed in all Turkish provinces headed by the deputy Director of the National Education, and includes a teacher of a foreign language to conduct interviews with foreign students. The committee will also be tasked with directing students to appropriate education institutions, finding a place to accommodate them, and equating certificates and educational documents. All foreign students in Turkey who have a residence, and who did not get a personal number for foreigners, and students who have registered with the appropriate authorities and received an identification document to prove that. The committee will assess and determine the level of students who do not have the necessary educations documents. It will also dedicate buildings associated with public or private institutions for foreign students to attend school full-time or part-time. (Source: Syrian Interim Government)
