Operation Peace Spring being launched by the Syrian National Army (SNA) and the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) is whipping up increasing support in the liberated areas of Syria. The operation aims to liberate towns and villages east of the Euphrates from the PYD militia.
Dozens of forcibly displaced people from the towns of Manbij, Ras al-Ayn and the Arab villages east of the Euphrates gathered in the town of Jarablus in rural Aleppo to show support of the joint military operation against the PYD militia.
Local activists in Manbij said that the residents welcomed the operation as it would allow those who were displaced to return to their towns and villages. They said they wanted to send a message to the world that they are the rightful owners of the land and that ISIS and the PYD militia had forced them from their homes.
The demonstrators expressed their rejection of the entry of the Assad regime forces to their town. They indicated that Operation Peace Spring aims to allow the displaced people and refugees to return to their homes, noting that this return will be impossible should the Assad regime forces control Manbij and the rest of nearby areas.
Demonstrations in support of the operation also took place in the towns and villages of southern rural Idlib, including Kafr Takharim and Ma’aret al-Nouman. The demonstrators chanted slogans in support of the operation, calling on the forces taking part on the operation to liberate northern Syria from all terrorist organizations.
Similar demonstrations also took place in the town of Al-Bab, Azaz, and Jarablus in northern rural Aleppo. Demonstrators called for liberating the town of Manbij and held signs expressing support of Operation Peace Spring.
The Syrian National Coalition reaffirmed the SNA’s readiness to confront terrorism in cooperation with the brothers in Turkey so as to ensure the national interests of the Syrian people with all their components and prevent any terrorist organization from using Syrian territory as a launchpad for threatening the security and stability of the Syrian people and neighboring countries.
