A statement issued by rebel factions in Syria said that “we fight a liberation war to liberate our homeland from Iranian and Russian invasion,” calling for closing ranks and to bypass differences for the sole goal which is liberating Syria and preserving the identity of the Syrian people.
Rebel factions added that the Russian military aggression against Syria amounts to a direct occupation of the country even if some parties claim came at a formal request from the Assad regime. They point out that Russia rushed to rescue Assad when they saw signs of total collapse on most battlefronts.
They said that Assad regime has turned into a fascist treacherous regime after it summoned occupying forces to Syria for the second time, warning that Russia and Iran will be accountable to history for of their aggression in Syria.
The statement added that the Russian invasion came at a critical moment in the course of the revolution, noting that Russia aims through its intervention in Syria to impose itself as a key player in the political process in Syria and to secure its interests, which will exacerbate violence and terrorism in the country.
Rebel factions reaffirm their adherence to the goals of the Syrian Revolution, warning that any occupying force of Syria are legitimate targets. They also emphasize that this bold aggression undermines chances for reaching a political solution, stressing their adherence to the integrity of Syrian territory and the unity of its people.
They point out that the Russian air force committed its first massacre in Syria when it hit civilian targets, killing nearly fifty people in an area void of any presence of ISIS.
Secretary-General Mohammed Yahya Maktabi said that the Syrian Revolution turned from a revolution against an authoritarian regime to the national liberation movement against the Russian and Iranian invasion of Syria.
“Today Syrians are facing multi-faceted invasion and terrorism; the Russian-Iranian invasion and the terrorism practiced by the Hezbollah militia, ISIS and other sectarian foreign militias.”
He stresses that every Syrian has a great responsibility to face the hard circumstances Syria is going through, praising the Syrian rebels who are countering the invaders. “Though outnumbered and under-equipped, the faith Syrian rebels have in their cause is matchless and is enough to provide with the courage and determination till the liberation of all Syrian territory.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
