The Assad regime detained at least 10 people in the provinces of Dara’a and Damascus on Thursday. Local activists said that the Assad regime continues to violate agreements brokered by international parties and commit violations against civilians.
According to local sources in Dara’a, the Assad regime’s security forces raided the house of the young man Ammar Issa and arrested him for unknown reasons although he agreed to the Russian-brokered reconciliation agreement with the regime.
The Assad regime forces also detained nine young people after raiding their homes in the town of Jeroud in rural Damascus although they agreed to reconcile with the regime.
Local sources said that the detainees were taken to unknown destination, pointing out that some of the detainees were accused of “writing anti-regime graffiti on the walls of the town.”
The Assad regime has detained dozens of former members of the local councils and FSA fighters who agreed to reconcile with the regime under the threat of forced displacement.
Unknown gunmen have recently attacked the headquarters of the Baath party and the house of the regime’s police chief in the neighborhood of al-Mahatta in Dara’a city. Activists said that military operations continue to target regime forces in response to the arrests, adding that there is a possibility these operations might intensify and radically change the situation in the province.
