Nearly 100,000 people were displaced from their homes during Eid al-Adha holidays as a result of the ferocious onslaught being launched by the Assad regime and Russia on towns and villages in the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria.
According to local activists, more than 92,119 people were displaced from their homes in northern rural Hama and southern rural Idlib in the past four days, 40,461 of whom were displaced in the past 48 hours alone. The majority of those displaced are staying in farmlands and on the sides of public roads.
The Smart local news networks said that hundreds of other families are loading their luggage as they ready themselves to flee towards northern rural Idlib to escape the barbaric bombardment and shelling.
Local civil institutions have called for the opening of shelters, schools and IDP camps to receive the large numbers of displaced people, calling on international organizations to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of the IDPs.
Civil and media organizations earlier launched a humanitarian campaign to mobilize support for the people being displaced from northern rural Hama and southern rural Idlib.
In addition to the mass displacement of civilians, the intensive aerial bombardment by the Assad regime and Russia forces on rural Hama and Idlib have killed hundreds of civilians and caused widespread destruction to the infrastructure in the liberated areas, especially hospitals and schools.
