Rebel fighters managed to repel a violent attack by the terrorist PYD militias on the town of Tal Rifaat north of Aleppo. Fighting under close air cover by the Russian air force, the PYD militias attacked the western side of the town at dawn yesterday Sunday, capturing a number of rebel positions.
Rebel fighters launched a counter-attack driving PYD militias out of the outskirts of the town, killing no fewer than 10 PYD militants and injuring many more.
Turkey’s Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz refuted Assad regime claims that a hundred Turkish troops have entered Syria. “It is not true,” Yilmaz told members of the Turkish parliament in Ankara during a parliamentary budget meeting on Sunday.
“A mortar fired from Syria hit a Turkish border post Sunday,” Yilmaz said. According to the minister, the bombardment was carried out by PYD forces. The mortar hit a post in Kilis province. The Turkish military responded with artillery shelling.
Yilmaz also said that Turkey has intelligence that the terrorist PYD is preparing to attack the town of Azaz. Yilmaz pointed out that Prime Minister Ahmed Davutoglu vowed to continue to bomb the PYD positions till they pull out of Minnagh air base and the outskirts of Azaz.
The minister warned that any future advances by the PYD on new areas in northern Aleppo would trigger a new wave of refugees. He added that Turkey has already received more than 2.5 million Syrian refugees. Yilmaz said the region is witnessing acts of ethnic cleansing. (Source: Syrian Coalition + Anadolu)
