Activists and civilians in the town of Saraqib in rural Idlib on Friday staged a demonstration to protest against an attack by Haiy’at Tahrir Alsham’s (HTS) on the town of Maaret Alnouman.
According to Smart News Network, demonstrators denounced HTS’s practices against civilians and the Free Syrian Army groups based in Maaret Alnouman. They demanded that HTS release all the people its militants detained during the attack and stop its aggression on the FSA groups.
The demonstrations came a few hours after HTS militants opened fire on demonstrators in the town of Maaret Alnouman, injuring civilians. HTS detained four people in the town.
HTS militants on Thursday stormed Maaret Alnouman shortly before iftar time and attacked headquarters of the Free Syrian Army groups based in the town. Clashes ensued resulting in the death of fighters from both sides and also the death of a senior officer in the Free Police Force. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department + Smart News Network)
