The Action Group for the Palestinians of Syria on Monday said that another Palestinian-Syrian was killed under torture in the prisons of the Assad regime 10 months after his arrest.
The London-based monitoring group said that the Assad regime has recently informed the family of Saleh Mansur Shakoush from the Khan al-Sheheh refugee camp in Damascus of his death.
They Group noted that Shakoush died on March 9, 2016. He was detained on May 19, 2015.
The group earlier confirmed that the detainees are subjected to various methods of brutal torture in the prisons of the Assad regime. It said that at least 586 Palestinian-Syrians, including women and children, have been killed while in the Assad regime’s custody since March 2011.
In a report released in mid-March, the Group said that it had documented the detention of 1,748 Palestinian-Syrians since March 2011, pointing to the presence of entire families inside these prisons, including infants, women, children and elderly people.
Last year, the Assad regime begun sending death notices for Palestinian-Syrian detainees who died in its prisoners to the General Authority for Arab Palestine Refugees in Syria. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
