The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) said that the Assad regime and Russian forces targeted no fewer than nine mosques in the provinces of Idlib and Hama in the first week of Ramadan. It said that the ongoing bombing campaign by the Assad regime and Russian forces is mainly targeting populated areas.
The Network pointed out that the recent military escalation in the provinces of Idlib and Hama has caused widespread destruction to vital civilian centers located inside populated areas, including educational and medical facilities.
The monitoring group on Tuesday said that the Assad regime and Russian forces bombed at least 24 schools and 12 medical centers in the provinces of Idlib and Hama in the period between April 26 and May 9, 2019.
Member of the Coalition’s political committee Hadi al-Bahra slammed states that were inventing “moral and logical” pretexts to normalize relations with a regime that continues with the killing and displacement of tens of thousands innocent civilians.”
Bahra raised questions about attempts by some states to return the Syrian refugees to their homeland at a time when hundreds of thousands have fled to safer areas in recent weeks.
The liberated areas in southern rural Idlib and northern rural Hama have been subjected to the fiercest onslaught in the past few days.
