The General Commission of Youth and Sports organized a running race in Aleppo yesterday to commemorate the “River Massacre” which took place two years ago when regime forces executed 220 young men and threw them in the Qwaiq river in central Aleppo. The head of Youth and Sports Department in the interim Ministry of Culture said that “we organized this event to prove to the world that we loves life and able to defy the extremely difficult circumstances we have going through,” noting that sport develops values, ethics and cooperation in the Syrian society.” (Source: Syrian Coalition + Syrian Interim Government)
