At least 10 civilians were killed and dozens more injured in the intensifying Russian airstrikes in the provinces of Hama and Idlib on Friday. The intensified bombings coincided with the 12th round of the Astana talks.
Local activists said that the Russian airstrikes also coincided with artillery and rocket shelling by the Assad forces in the same areas.
The victims included five people from one family who were killed in Russian airstrikes that hit the village of Tal Hawash in northern rural Hama. Airstrikes also killed three other civilians in rural Idlib and two more in the village of Amiqa in rural Hama.
Three other civilians were killed in Russian airstrikes that hit the towns of Al-Mozara, Qasabiya, Ma’artmatir, Hazzarin, Al-Reinbah Tramala, Harish Abidin, Al-Faqie, and Kafranbil in southern and eastern rural Idlib.
Regime forces continue to shell the liberated areas with rockets and heavy artillery, hitting an IDP camp in the Harish Binin area as well as the towns of Ma’arat al-Nu’man, Jarjanaz, al-Frejah, al-Khawain, Tahtaya, Al-Tamana’a, Hirsh Kfarroma, Badama and Najiya without reports of casualties.
