Russian jets on Tuesday bombed Hasan al-A’araj Hospital in the town of Ma’arat al-Nu’man in rural Idlib, destroying large parts of the hospital and putting the facility out of service.
The Syrian Interim Government’s directorate of health in Idlib province said that the violent Russian airstrikes caused severe damage to the hospital building and the equipment and destroyed electricity generators, transport vehicles and ambulances.
The directorate pointed out that though the attack did not result in any injuries to the medical staff, the hospital has become unable to provide medical or even ambulance services.
The Syrian Coalition said that Russia’s resumption of attacks on hospitals and vital civilian facilities is an indicator of its intentions to cause a new wave of mass displacement of the local population.
The Coalition strongly condemned these attacks as war crimes, calling on the United Nations to condemn this act and fully assume its responsibility to enforce Security Council resolutions calling for the cessation of bombardment, especially of hospitals and vital civilian centers.
