The Russian airstrikes on several areas in Syria have led to a new wave of displacement, with approximately 1000 refugees arrived in Turkey over the past week.
Homs provisional council declared northern rural Homs a disaster area as a result of the Russian aggression which forced more than 9,000 to seek refuge in the towns of Rastan, Talbeesah, Zafarana and Deir Foul.
Approximately 85,000 civilians have been forced out of their homes in southern rural Aleppo as a result of the regime’s attacks backed by close air support by the Russian air force.
President Khoja said earlier that the Russian invasion of Syria will destabilize the region and threatens its security, adding that the Russians are not killing Syrian civilians but also the plan of the UN envoy Staffan de Mistura and all chances of reaching a political solution.
Khoja stressed the difficulty of reaching a political settlement in light of the continued Russian and Iranian-Syrian invasion of Syria.
“Assad’s regime was defeated and withdrew from the country’s north and south before handing over those areas to ISIS, then it sought help from the Iranian regime but they were also defeated by the Syrian rebels.
“With the rapid collapse of regime forces, Assad called for the Russian occupiers, and he barely controls one-sixth of Syria’s territory.” Khoja added. (Source: Syrian Coalition + Agencies)
