Russian & Assad Regime Airstrikes Kill Woman & Child in Rural Idlib Monday

Three civilians were killed and dozens more were injured in intensifying aerial attacks by the Russian and Assad regime airstrikes targeting residential areas in rural Idlib on Monday.

Local activists said that a woman and a child were killed and another child was injured in barrel bomb attacks by Assad’s helicopters on the village of Tal Ammara in southern rural Idlib in the early morning hours of Monday.

Activists said that Assad regime helicopters dropped barrel bombs on the towns of Tamana’a, Mureijib Almashhad, Sukeik, Khwein, Musheirfa, Dajaj, Abu Dali, and Sinjar, injuring nine civilians and destroying residential buildings.

Local news networks said that Russian jets conducted no fewer than 40 airstrikes on the villages and towns of Khwein, Abu Dali, Musheirfa, Weibdah, Ma’arishhour, Sinjar, Tal Mardeekh and Kafar Amimi in rural Idlib. The airstrikes injured 15 civilians and destroyed five houses.

The intensified bombing campaign by the Russian and Assad regime air forces on civilian areas in Rural Idlib has recently caused an exodus of civilians towards the towns and villages near the Turkish border.

On Tuesday, December 19, four Russian jets committed a massacre in the town of Ma’arshoureen in rural Idlib claiming the lives of at least 17 civilians, including 13 members of one family, and wounding 35 others. The Russian jest dropped all their load of high-explosive missiles on a residential area in the town.

The Syrian Coalition called for international action to stop the crimes Russia and the Assad regime are committing in Syria. It stressed the need to enforce international resolutions on violations, especially UN Security Council resolutions 2268 and 2254 to hold perpetrators to account. Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people’s unity within the same Syrian soil
is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its
symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes
against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
