The ACU-run polio control task force began today the seventh round of the vaccination campaign against polio in the provinces of Latakia, Idlib, Hama, Raqqa and Al Hasakah. The polio control task force said they had received the anti-polio vaccines from the Turkish Red Crescent for the seventh round of the vaccination campaign organized by ACU. It appeals to the parents to cooperate with the mobile vaccination teams and facilitate their work. Children will be administered anti-polio vaccines and a dose of vitamin A through the mouth. The task force distributed the vaccines to centers located in the opposition held areas. The task force has already completed six rounds of the house-to-house campaign, in which around 1.4 million Syrian children were vaccinated against the epidemic. The polio control task force was composed through the efforts and coordination between ACU, local councils and a number of local and international non- governmental organizations under the slogan “Let’s End Polio in Syria.” The team is composed of 8,000 volunteers and more than 200 doctors.
