Anti-regime demonstrations continued for the seventh day in Suwayda city where protestors marched through the city’s streets demanding the fall of the Assad regime and the release of detainees in the regime’s prisons.
The demonstrators chanted slogans reaffirming the peacefulness of the demonstrations and commitment to the goals of the Syrian revolution, namely to regain freedom and dignity as well as to topple the Assad regime with all its pillars and symbols.
Among the new slogans chanted by the demonstrators on Friday was ‘O Suwayda! Revolt and shake the ground under Assad’s feet,’ and ‘O Sultan Pasha al-Atrash! Where are you? The homeland now belongs to Iran.’
The Syrian Opposition Coalition earlier commended the anti-regime demonstrations taking place in Suwayda and the rest of Syrian cities and towns. It also saluted the courage and steadfastness being shown by the grandchildren of Sultan Pasha al-Atrash and their love for their country.
The SOC stressed that these demonstrations “revealed the truth of a people who have been freed from the shackles of tyranny and who revolted against Assad’s tyranny.” (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
