The Free Syrian National Karate team won three bronze medals in the International Bosphorus Karate Championship held in Istanbul, Turkey between 3 and 4 March.
Moataz Alali won two silver medals in the individual kata, for the 35 kg weight category, while his brother Osama won a bronze medal in the individual kata, for the 45 kg weight category.
Adil Nwailat, of the 75 weight category, and Mamoun Ali, of the 84 kg weight category also competed in the tournament, but did not win any medals.
The participation of the athletes was organized by the Syrian Coalition-run Syrian Olympic Committee and the Free Syrian Karate Federation. The flag of the Syrian revolution was raised along with dozens of flags representing participants in the tournament.
The team dedicated the medals to the Syrian people and the fallen heroes of the Syrian revolution whose 6th anniversary falls on March 15.
