Syrian activists have launched a campaign on social media under the title “The Free Syrian Army is Our Choice” to support the FSA and highlight the huge sacrifices it has made to defend the Syrian people. The campaign also aims to highlight the FSA’s most prominent deeds and achievements against the Assad regime and its allied foreign militias over the past year.
Organizers of the campaign said that they seek to highlight the FSA’s primary goal, which is to liberate Syria from the brutal Assad regime as well as the ISIS extremist group and other terrorist organizations. They stressed that the FSA has stood firmly against all plans to partition Syria and fragment the Syrian society.
Organizers of the campaign cited remarks made by prominent national political figures, media activists, actors, and artists who reaffirmed support for the FSA.
Member of the Syrian Coalition Fayez Sarah said that “the FSA is a staunch defender of the Syrian people’s goals for freedom, justice and equality”, stressing that “it is the force most capable and qualified to administer the liberated areas across Syria.”
Member of the Syrian Coalition Khatib Badla said: “The FSA is our choice as it has long adopted the slogans and fundamental principles of the revolution as well as defended the Syrian people without imposing any other agendas in liberated areas.”
Member of the Syrian Coalition Nasr Hariri said: “The FSA is the only guarantor of the liberation of Syria from foreign occupation and terrorism which thrived because of the Assad regime’s policies.” He pointed that “the FSA is the only patron of the revolution’s goals of justice and the rule of law.”
Media activists and writer Nesrine Trabulsi said that “The FSA is fighting the Assad regime and its allies, but also saves lives,” adding that the “FSA rises like a phoenix from the ashes” to protect Syrians.
Syrian actor Maxim Khalil said that that his “humanity compelled him to revolt against the regime and stand against injustice as well as to stand by the FSA as it the only party fighting for freedom in Syria.”
Syrian prominent cartoonist Ali Farzat said: “The FSA and free Syria are two names that together constitute a crown resting over spikes of wheat, olives branches, jasmine roses and a moon that shines in a sky studded with the stars of the fallen heroes.”
Commenting on the smear campaigns launched by the Assad regime to discredit the FSA, Syrian director Abdul Qadir Manla said that: “The FSA has been the primary target of the Assad regime’s propaganda and military machines,” noting that “freedom in Syria can only be regained by a national army who fights for the homeland away from other ideologies.”
