Louay Safi, spokesman for the Syrian Coalition, calls on the international community to assume its responsibility in the fight against terrorism through supporting Syria’s rebels to counter the escalating attacks of the Assad regime and ISIS, during press conference held by the Syrian Coalition yesterday. “There has been recently an unprecedented high-level coordination between ISIS and Assad’s forces to recapture the large swaths of land that have fallen to rebel factions.” Safi said. He criticizes the international silence towards the Assad’s massacres and his brutal barrel bomb attacks on residential areas that killed thousands of people. “While Assad’s allies have been supplying him with unlimited support, the aid provided by the Friends of the Syrian people to mainstream rebels has decreased to the minimum level. The flow of arms to the Syrian rebels has almost stopped lately.” Safi also said that “we began talks with the FSA’s Chief of Staff Abdulilah al-Bashir to develop an overall strategy to fend off the coordinated attacks of ISIS and regime forces in Aleppo and Deir Ezzor.” Safi concluded his remarks pointing out that almost all the relief aid delivered by the United Nations to Syria have ended in the hands of the Assad regime, which is using it to support the military and political agenda in the region.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
