The Syrian interim government approved the allocation of 166.65 million U.S. dollars to support the education sector in Syria and neighboring countries. The interim government prepared a study for the establishment of the Syrian National University which include colleges of political science, management, languages and vocational institutes. The decision of the interim government was made during its weekly meeting which was concluded on Friday, March 28, 2014 in the Turkish city of Gaziantep. The interim government has agreed to allocate $1.5 million USD to pay salaries of teachers working in the Syrian governorates for a period of six months.” The interim ministers, headed by PM Ahmad Tohme, approved the formation of a fund to support university students in Turkey with an initial amount of $ 50,000 USD. It also allocated $165 million USD for the maintenance of 55 schools in various Syrian provinces, and $100,000 USD to support the stalled schools in Turkey and neighboring countries for a period of four months. In a similar vein, the Ministry of Health in the Syrian interim government decided to provide four ambulances to Morek, Khan Shaikhoun and Kassab. Moreover, the interim government approved a project to electronically archive records and files of the civil courts that remained intact after the liberation of the court building in Aleppo, in addition to the establishment of the mill in the town of Azaz north of Aleppo. The Ministers also to approved to restructure the local councils in the provinces of Idlib, Dara’a, Damascus and Quneitra, in addition to approving the financing of a bakery in the Lebanese town of Arsal, under the supervision of the local council of Yabrood at an estimated cost of $55,000 USD.
