The Syrian interim government intends to set up a legal committee to register the Syrian orphans and children without identity documents in Syria and neighboring countries. For this purpose, Taghrid al Hajli, interim Minister of Culture and Fayez Al-Daher, interim Minister of Justice held on Thursday a consultative meeting to study the project whose importance stems form from the fact that hundreds of thousands of Syrians, especially children, do not possess formal identity documents. With large swathes of land now in rebel control and under a crippling siege imposed by regime forces, the departments of civil registration are functioning in the regime-held areas only. The project aims to register Syrian children in the liberated areas and in refugee camps in neighboring countries. In similar vein, the Syrian interim government launched an e-learning project on August 11, 2014, and marked the beginning of the next academic year as a date for carrying it out. The project aims to meet the needs of the educational process in Syria and abroad and to provide education for all Syrian citizens at home or in host countries, taking into account achieving the highest quality of education, introducing the concept of e-learning, and making use of the advantages it offers.
