The General Commission of the Palestinian Refugees of the Syrian interim government opened its first office in the Yarmouk refugee camp in Damascus. The office will coordinate providing services and relief aid the residents of the camp which has been subject to months-long siege by pro-regime forces. The move comes as an implementation of the Commission’s plan to transfer its headquarters and its activities to the the Syrian territory. A new office will also be opened in northern Aleppo. The Syrian Coalition had earlier sent a distress call on behalf of the besieged camp to the United Nations demanding lifting the siege imposed by regime forces for more than a year and a half and which caused a humanitarian catastrophe. “We call for the implementation of the UN Security Council resolution No 2165 regarding giving access to the aid convoys to all besieged areas in Syria without the need to obtain the approval of the Assad regime.” (Source: Syrian Coalition + Syrian Interim Government)
