The Syrian Islamic Council issued a statement in support for Eastern Ghouta, appealing to all Muslims in the world, especially in the neighboring countries, to immediately intervene to save the Syrian people in general and the people of Eastern Ghouta in particular.
Many cities and towns of Eastern Ghouta, besieged by regime forces for over two years, have been coming under relentless aerial and artillery bombardment which left hundreds of people killed or injured.
The Council calls on the international community and human rights organizations to shoulder their moral responsibility and intervene to stop the carnage taking place in Eastern Ghouta. It also calls for rebel factions to close ranks, unify their efforts and to hold consultations before making crucial decisions so that interests of the Syrian people are served and evil is warded off.
The Council also calls on the “bereaved Syrian people to exercise more patience as victory is but one more hour of patient perseverance.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
