Media activist and TV presenter Zahir Sharqat died earlier today of a fatal injury he received in an assignation attempt on Monday. The Syrian Coalition’s Media Office on Monday condemned the assassination attempt.
Sharqat, known for his strong opposition to the Assad regime and ISIS, was severely injured when a gunman with a silenced pistol shot him in the head on Sunday in the Turkish city of Gaziantep.
Sharqat is a producer and TV presenter at Aleppo Today TV channel. He served as the head of the provincial council in his hometown of al-Bab in Aleppo province. He also worked in the revolutionary, media, relief and military fields while in Syria. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
