The Syrian community in Istanbul on Thursday organized an event to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Syrian revolution in Zubaidah Hanim Theater in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
The event began with observing a minute of silence for those died since the beginning of the Syrian Revolution, followed by recitations of poems by Syrian poets inspired by the suffering of the Syrian people at home and abroad. The poets included Abdullatif al-Husseini and Ivan Breimjah.
Musical duo Dara Astri and Sanaa Abdo sang songs glorifying the Syrian revolution and paying homage to late Ibrahim Qashoush, the lead chanter in the anti-regime protests, who was executed by regime forces in 2011.
The event was concluded by an art show performed by a band of Syrian kids belonging to the Turkish Noor Charity Association. A film was also displayed about the events and activities carried out by the Association in Syria and Turkey over the past five years. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
