Ahmad Tomeh, interim Prime Minister, said that “the interim government should make use of the positive criticism to its performance, and on this basis a committee was formed to re-evaluate the performance of government’s employees and their salaries and the administrative expenses. The postponement of the meeting of the Syrian Coalition dedicated for the election of a new interim Prime Minister may be an opportunity to reach further understandings and consensus to come out with a new competent government. The current caretaker government is still carrying out its duties and it has made use of the constructive criticism of its performance.” Tomeh pointed out that the “interim government has opened several offices and directorates, as well as schools in several Syrian provinces, but the Assad regime was quick to target them due to the absence of a no-fly zone over the liberated areas. We also established rehabilitation centers and opened schools for Syrian refugees in Turkey, Jordan, and Lebanon.” Tomeh praised the efforts made by the Ministry of Education which successfully conducted secondary grade exams for thousands of students and also standardized the school curricula. Regarding the treatment the Syrian refugees are receiving in Turkey, Tomeh said that the Turkish government did not fail in providing aid for Syrian refugees, treatment to the wounded, and education for students. The interim Prime Minister pointed to some of the problems facing Syrian refugees in Turkey, noting that the interim government persuades Syrian refugees to respect the laws of the host countries, and also encourage them to learn the Turkish language which would have a positive impact on the future between the Syrians and Turks. Tomeh rejects describing the Syrian citizens who live in areas controlled by ISIS as a social base for this terrorist organization, stressing that the Syrian people abhor violence and extremism that crossed the borders into Syria.
