The Free University of Aleppo and Idlib University decided to postpone the exams of the first semester for a week due to the serious military escalation by the Assad regime and Russian forces in the two provinces.
The Free University of Aleppo said in a statement that it was postponing the first semester exams until February 9, 2020 at a request from the administrative body in the College of Arts, the Technical Institute for Business Administration, and a group of students.
University of Idlib stated in a similar statement that it was postponing the exams for a week with the administrative staff continuing its work.
The decision came as a result of the intensifying onslaught by the Assad regime forces and their allied militias with Russian aerial support on the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib. The assault on the region has been ongoing since April 26, 2019.
The Syrian National Coalition earlier said that the Assad regime and its allies are targeting all aspects of life in the liberated areas as the bombardment and shelling do not spare schools or hospitals. It called on the international community to deter the murderous regime and its backers so that it does not commit more crimes and massacres against unarmed civilians in rural Idlib and Aleppo.
